St. Francis Manor Foundation
Founded in 2009, The St. Francis manor Foundation, a new public charity 501(c)(3) will support charitable interests at St. Francis Manor. The immediate goal is a capital campaign to raise money for the $4 million renovation currently underway at St. Francis Manor.
“The foundation was conceptualized by St. Francis Manor Board Members who saw a need at St. Francis,” says Schrack. “Our excellent staff provides the highest rated services for a skilled facility in Grinnell according to Medicare ratings. It’s only appropriate that the facility match those high standards of care.”
A renovation at St. Francis Manor includes a new dining facility and kitchen, larger lounge areas, renovation of resident rooms, office space for a growing staff, a transitional (skilled-care) unit, additional therapy space and equipment and a sound system with audio visual for the community-used social center.
A building campaign was launched in early 2010 to actively involve the community in donating funding, services and equipment to the building project. As of Summer 2011, the Foundation has raised over $300,000 for the cause.
The Foundation offers a variety of ways to give: Building Fund, Remembrance/Memorial Program, Nursing Scholarship Program, Human Need Fund, Planned Giving Program and Gift-In-Kind. Along with general donation opportunities throughout the year, the Foundation will host a golf tournament in the summer and several seasonal charity events.
