Class Options

Classes may change monthly and based on the season.  S.H.A.P.E. 1, 2 and 3 classes are open to the Grinnell community for a $25 monthly fee.  A brief description of the classes which are regularly offered is included below.  View our current class offerings and schedule.

S.H.A.P.E. 1

A 45-minute group fitness class that will work at moderate to high intensity levels. The class will address and improve a participant’s flexibility, balance, cardiovascular endurance, strength, coordination, and front-to-back/side-to-side movements.

S.H.A.P.E. 2

A 45-minute group fitness class offered for those who like to work at a moderate intensity level. The class will include a combination of standing and seated exercises to enhance a participant’s flexibility, balance, cardiovascular endurance, strength, and coordination.

S.H.A.P.E. 3

A seated group fitness class that works at a low intensity for 30 minutes. The class will focus on maintaining and improving a participant’s energy level, flexibility, range of motion, and strength.

Step-In-Line

A high-energy 45-minute choreographed exercise class in which participants learn basic line dancing steps and dances. Some members of this group, known as the “Parkettes,” also travel and perform at different retirement communities around Central Iowa.
