LiteGait Cycling Fundraiser
We are excited to announce the launch of a special fundraiser to benefit the greater Poweshiek County area by bringing a LiteGait System to the Rehabilitation Clinic at St. Francis Manor. LiteGait is a state-of-the-art system to help individuals learn to safely walk again following strokes, fractures, joint replacements or other serious medical conditions that limit mobility. This type of specialized equipment is currently only available in large city acute rehab hospitals.
To raise the necessary funds, we invite you to support Tim Stahl and Jon Duke as they embark on an across-the-state cycling adventure (approximately 370 miles) in early May. Although many people have biked across Iowa on paved roads within 7 days during RAGBRAI, very few have ever attempted to bike across the state on unpaved gravel and dirt roads within 2 to 3 days! Their cycling team name of “Stroke for Stroke” is in recognition of their physical therapy patients recovering from strokes. In addition to raising funds for the LiteGait System, they hope to inspire others to lower their risk of heart disease, stroke, diabetes and other diseases by engaging in regular cardiovascular exercise.
You can help bring a LiteGait System to Grinnell by sponsoring their team with a financial donation for every mile that they successfully achieve. Alternatively, you may donate a designated amount. 100% of the donations received for this event will go towards the purchase of the LiteGait System. All contributions are tax-deductible.
