Louise Doty turns 103!

Imagine living through not only one pandemic but two during your lifetime — that’s just what St. Francis Manor resident Louise Doty has done! Anna Louise Larsen was born in 1918 during the Spanish Flu pandemic, she recovered from COVID-19 in May 2020, and celebrated her 103rd birthday on November 25! Louise was able to enjoy an early celebration with her three children and their spouses in the home of one of her sons, Merle (Gloria) Doty.

Fall Tour of Homes – Sunday, October 10

Seeland Park, an active 55+ Life Plan Community located on the east side of Grinnell, invites the public to its Tour of Homes on Sunday, October 10, from 1:30 to 4:00 PM. If you build it, they will come: Bocce ball court beckons new players at Seeland Park

“Bocce is a game using 4 green and 4 red balls weighing about 2 pounds each. There are two members of two teams on both ends of the court. The target is a pallino (resembles a ping pong ball) which the teams throw their balls toward. The team with the same color of ball closest to the pallino scores the point or points.  The balls are rolled down the court in a fashion like bowling,”
