Summer Tour of Homes Recap
The rain did not deter at least 54 visitors, including 19 first timers, from visiting Seeland Park campus on June 10th to see some or all of the eight homes open for tour or a demonstration of the new LiteGait system in the Rehabilitation Clinic of St. Francis Manor. Approximately 40% of those attending live outside of Grinnell, representing the Iowa communities of Brooklyn, Chelsea, Kellogg, Lynnville, Malcom, Marion, Newton, Oskaloosa, Sully and Waterloo. Visitors from the states of Colorado, Illinois and Oklahoma also were in attendance.
Those who attended and assisted with the Tour of Homes also enjoyed some refreshing strawberry/vanilla soft serve frozen yogurt and cookies in our Social Center while viewing a display of nature photography taken by Seeland Park residents Marie Andrews, Darlene Durand, Lucy Green, Doris Lowry, Carol Osborn, Ginger Sterk, Bob Terlouw and June Watkins. The winners of the drawing for three $20 Casey’s gift cards were Bob & Sandy Falck (Grinnell), Don & Carol Kaisand (Kellogg), and Bob & Ruth Samson (Grinnell).
Many thanks to Dean & Bev Heishman, Dwight & Betty Niday, Warren & Nancy Pick, and Mike & Susan Thorndike for opening their homes for tours; to our Seeland Park maintenance and housekeeping staff for having the community grounds and available homes looking so nice; to Cindy Strobel and Penni Sharer for preparing and serving refreshments; and to Kim Staples for the Social Center centerpieces.
