Dale Selix and Out-Patient Rehabilitation Therapy

By Dale Selix

Following a double-knee replacement in November of 2016, Dale Selix, a Seeland Park resident since 2007, received skilled care at St. Francis Manor for about a month following his surgery. After Dale’s discharge home, he continued receiving outpatient therapy for another five weeks at the Rehabilitation Clinic at St. Francis Manor.

“The nursing care and therapy were excellent at St. Francis Manor,” said Dale recently. “In addition to physical therapy, I was also pleased to receive occupational therapy which helped prepare me to go home. They even gave me long-handled tools to assist me which made it easier to put on my socks and shoes. A big advantage to living at Seeland Park was being able to return to my fully handicapped-accessible home with a walk-in shower. The only adjustment that had to be made was picking up a throw rug!”

Dale has returned to exercising three times a week in the S.H.A.P.E. fitness and chair yoga classes on campus which are free to Seeland Park residents. Dale says, “I’m not a morning person, but the fitness program here at Seeland Park is excellent and I look forward to starting my day with exercise!”
