Hammond Center for Assisted Living Celebrates 7-year Anniversary
Seven years of care, connection, and community were celebrated at the Hammond Center for Assisted Living on March 4, marking a milestone that reflects the warmth and strength at the heart of this special place. From copper-themed keepsakes to games, laughter, and shared stories, tenants and staff came together to honor not just an anniversary, but the vibrant community that has grown since the Hammond Center first opened its doors in 2019.

A festive Breakfast with Santa event was held at St. Francis Manor on December 6, uniting people of all ages. Over 155 attendees, including four generations of Seeland Park residents Sheila Latcham, Bob & Linda Overturf and Jim & Karol Schmidt’s families, gathered for an all-you-can-eat pancake breakfast. Seeland Park residents, affectionately referred to as Santa’s elves, assisted with serving drinks and clearing tables. From infants to a 100-year-old, most delighted in meeting the jolly elf, while a few were hesitant to sit on Santa’s lap. This fun and joyful event successfully raised over $3,600 in support of the St. Francis Manor Foundation’s fundraising campaign to purchase a new van for resident transportation.
The St. Francis Manor community gathered on Thursday, November 13, for a heartfelt Veterans Remembrance Program honoring the veterans who live—and lived—on our campus. Residents, families, and friends came together in gratitude and reflection to celebrate their service and sacrifice.
This October, in celebration of National Physical Therapy Month, we recognize the life-changing work of physical therapists like Jon Duke, PT, and Tim Stahl, PTA. Their dedication has helped patients like Mike Beck achieve remarkable recoveries—proving the power of expert care and determination.
Over 300 Hammond Center for Assisted Living tenants, Seeland Park and St. Francis Manor residents, staff members and families united for an unforgettable Grandparents Day Celebration on September 20. Executive Administrator Dion Schrack’s vision for a campus-wide event inspired Fitness Director Callie McCaslen and Activity Directors Tori Funke, Cadie Horn, Julie Underhill and Miranda Anderson to coordinate a joyous carnival-themed celebration bringing residents, tenants, staff, and their families together.
Seeland Park, an active 55+ Life Plan Community located on the east side of Grinnell, invites the public to its Summer Tour of Homes on Sunday, June 22, from 1:30 to 4:00 PM. Seven independent living residences of various sizes will be open to tour, including an available single-family home. Seeland Park also has four lots available for anyone interested in building their perfect retirement home!
