Mothers of our Community: Spotlight on Betty
by Lori Glosser
I am the oldest and only daughter of Betty Brown and a nurse at St. Francis Manor. Mom also has three sons including Kevin (Miriam) of Lee’s Summit, Missouri; Kent (Jill) who serves as vice-chair of St. Francis Manor, Seeland Park and Hammond Center board of directors; and Mark (Denise) of Olathe, Kansas; 13 grandkids and 15 great-grandkids & counting!
Mom was born and raised in California and loves all kinds of fruit. After marrying Ralph, Mom and Dad moved to Idaho. Mom has lots of friends since she and dad also lived in Illinois, Minnesota, Grinnell (1970-1995) and the Kansas City area (20 years) before moving to Seeland Park five years ago.
Mom’s favorite role was being a wife and mother. She was a very good cook. We remember she decorated for every season and always made special Jell-O shapes--red hearts for Valentine’s Day, egg shapes for Easter, etc. It was very important to Mom that we ate our evening meal together as a family.
Mom became a Christian as a young child. The most important thing in her life was following Christ. A Christian home was very important to her. Her children and grandchildren appreciate how much she prayed and continues to pray for them daily.
We could depend on Mom being at every event for her children and grandchildren. is an avid reader, loves wg crossword puzzles, shopping, church, piano, giving gifts, and coffee. Mom loves sending cards. Mom genuinely loves people.
Mom and Dad were married almost 59 years when Dad went to heaven on May 14, 2019. We are very blessed to have her as our Mom.
