Record Attendance Seen at Fall Tour of Homes

October 9, 2016

Approximately 100 visitors, including 45 first-timers, attended our Fall Tour of Homes on the beautiful afternoon of Sunday, October 9th, to see some or all of the ten open homes and view the quilts and teddy bears which 24 of our residents displayed in the Social Center.

Approximately one-third of the Iowa visitors were from communities other than Grinnell, including Brooklyn, Montezuma, Malcom, Kellogg, Gilman, Lynnville, Sully, Maquoketa, Monroe, Bondurant and Clive.  The winners of the drawing for three $20 Casey’s gift cards were Norma Gosselink, Lee and Bernice Hauser, and Shirley Paulson.

Many of you now live at Seeland Park because you previously attended a summer or fall open house and discovered how nice our community, homes, and residents are.  It is only with your help that we are able to continue offering these important events which provide our future residents with the same opportunity!

We wish to thank all of our home hosts, including Madolyn Braley, Marjory Kaloupek, Delmar & Evelyn Larsen, Agnes Mikel, Don & Joan Milburn, and John & Vivian Plate for opening their homes for tours; those who shared their quilts and teddy bears for the exhibit; and Cindy Strobel and Penni Sharer in Dietary for making the refreshments.

A special thank you as well to Eileen Zegers for making and donating Cyclone and Hawkeye teddy bears for a silent auction with proceeds to go to the St. Francis Manor Foundation to benefit the Hammond Center for Assisted Living building fund.  A total of $160 was raised by the two bears, with the Cyclone teddy bear “winning” the highest donation.

Thanks also to the Seeland Park Marketing Committee members and other volunteers for helping to make both the Pre-tour for hosts and helpers on Saturday, as well as the Fall Tour of Homes on Sunday, fun and successful events!
