Veterans Remembrance Celebration at St. Francis Manor
A Veterans Remembrance Program was held on Thursday, November 9, to honor veterans living on the St. Francis Manor campus. Over 100 St. Francis Manor residents, Hammond Center for Assisted Living tenants, and Seeland Park residents attended the program presented by Activity Directors Katie Shaw and Miranda Anderson. The featured guest speaker retired Air Force Lieutenant Colonel Gwen Rieck (pictured below) who shared about her 22 years of active service as an OB and chief nurse.
American Legion representative Eric Hartz presented a flag to the Lloyd Sieck family (pictured below) in honor of Lloyd’s service in the United States Marine Corp. as a Sergeant during the Korean Conflict. The flag was received by his wife, Shirley Sieck, and other members of his family including Gary & Kelly Sieck, Scott & Kris Sieck, Craig & Shealey Sieck, and Ron and Margaret Sieck. Lloyd passed away on June 14, 2021. Lloyd and Shirley were former Seeland Park residents and Shirley currently resides at the Hammond Center for Assisted Living.
Pianist Barb Tininenko played the official anthem for each branch of the armed services while attendees stood in recognition of the branch in which they or a loved one had served. The program also included reciting the Pledge of Allegiance, singing the “Star Spangled Banner” (pictured below) and playing “Taps” by American Legion representative Rod Carlson (pictured right). Those in attendance enjoyed light hors d’oeuvres and beverages provided by the Culinary Department before the program.
