Imagine living through not only one pandemic but two during your lifetime — that’s just what St. Francis Manor resident Louise Doty has done! Anna Louise Larsen was born in 1918 during the Spanish Flu pandemic, she recovered from COVID-19 in May 2020, and celebrated her 103rd birthday on November 25! Louise was able to enjoy an early celebration with her three children and their spouses in the home of one of her sons, Merle (Gloria) Doty.

Seeland Park, an active 55+ Life Plan Community located on the east side of Grinnell, invites the public to its Tour of Homes on Sunday, October 10, from 1:30 to 4:00 PM. Seeland Park currently has six residences listed for sale as well as five lots available for anyone interested in building their perfect retirement home! This Phase VI building development between Maple Street and Second Avenue will eventually include 13 single family homes (basement optional) with 2 or 3-car garages. A large duplex with 1 or 2-car garages is also an option for this development.

“Bocce is a game using 4 green and 4 red balls weighing about 2 pounds each. There are two members of two teams on both ends of the court. The target is a pallino (resembles a ping pong ball) which the teams throw their balls toward. The team with the same color of ball closest to the pallino scores the point or points.  The balls are rolled down the court in a fashion like bowling,”

Hadley Tice, certified nurse aide at St. Francis Manor, has been recognized as an Iowa Health Care Association (IHCA) Foundation scholarship winner and was one of 72 IHCA Foundation scholarship recipients in the state of Iowa for 2021.

Wear Blue Day was started by the Men’s Health Network (a national non-profit organization) to raise awareness about the importance of male health and to encourage men to live longer and healthier lives. Read about our walk to raise awareness and more

What do you know about Tai chi? It is an internal Chinese martial art originally practiced for defence training, but also for health benefits and meditation. Kayla Faas our fitness director and certified tai chi for arthritis instructor shows us the many benefits of this ancient practice.
