May was a busy month for Hammond Center for Assisted Living tenant Dorothy Peak—one week she celebrated being a mother for 79 years, the next week Dorothy celebrated her 99th birthday, and the following week she walked in St. Francis Manor’s half-mile walk around campus in recognition of National Senior Health & Fitness Day!
Thank you to all Mothers for their love and selflessness. In honor of Mother’s Day this month, we asked Madolyn Braley’s daughters (Kathy, Sue & Barb) to share a few memories of their mother.
Many St. Francis residents and Hammond Center for Assisted Living tenants assisted with filling over 1,000 Easter eggs and then enjoyed watching the children hunt for the eggs on April 16th.
St. Francis Manor in Grinnell is celebrating two big anniversaries this year – 45 years as a care facility and Dion Schrack serving as administrator for 40 of these years! It’s hard not to tell both stories simultaneously as Dion Schrack’s professional legacy accounts for many measurable additions to the campus over the last four decades.
St. Francis Manor recently received a 5-star overall rating of much above average on the CMS Nursing Home Compare Five-Star Ratings of Nursing Homes as of January 26, 2022. This overall rating is based on a nursing home’s performance in three categories: health inspections, staffing, and quality measures. St. Francis Manor received 5-star ratings in all three of these categories. “This is a great achievement especially in times like these when operations are so difficult,” said Executive Administrator Dion Schrack. “Thank you to all of our staff for their dedication to quality in serving our residents.”
Thank you to the following employees who donated to the St. Francis Manor Foundation either by check or through payroll deduction during the calendar year 2021: Tosha Beach, Sandi Bergmann, Sammi Bryan, Kelly Burns, Lori Glosser, Betty Hammond, Diane Hawkins, Kayla Lint, Tonya Miller, Vickie Miller, Kory Probasco, Dion Schrack, Shelley Schrack, Cindy Strobel, Karla Vander Leest and one anonymous donor. Their generous donations totalling $12,643 were very much appreciated and benefited the NuStep, Hammond Center Human Needs, Medical Chart Holders and Unrestricted Funds.
